Pomegranates and Sakura Blossoms – An Exhibit by Lynda Lou MacIntyre

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is proud to present a diverse show that chronicles the impressions of the artist during her travels to Israel and Japan and back to her native Cape Breton.  Lynda Lou MacIntyre was struck by the beauty she saw when visiting two distinct cultures so different than Canada’s. Upon stepping off the plane in Tel Aviv, she was greeted by the sight of tangerines growing in a traffic triangle!

From what grew in the fields to the use of space, MacIntyre compared these exotic lands to our Canada. Using various techniques including watercolour painting, jewellery making and hand painted silk, MacIntyre explores the colourful landscapes of all three regions.

This summertime exhibit will be on view in the Centre’s main gallery from July 14 to August 29, 2009. All works in the show will be available for sale. The Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is located at 322 Charlotte St. in Sydney.
