If you are interested in the creative practice and appreciation of craft and design, Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is for you!

Your membership not only keeps you informed about what is happening in the field of craft and design in Cape Breton, but provides you with a variety of benefits ranging from discounts on supplies to access to our library to a free subscription to Cape Breton Craft  & Design News.

We strive for flexibility in our programming and to be responsive to the changing needs of our membership.  The Centre is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected annually by our members.

We offer four different categories of membership, each tailored to a specific level of involvement in the field.  Click on fees to determine the category most suitable for your needs.

Benefits

Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design offers programs and services that are uniquely beneficial and rewarding to our membership. They include:

  • discounts on craft supplies
  • bulletins of events and activities
  • advance registration for courses and workshops
  • vote at the Centre's annual general meeting
  • access to the Centre's library and IT centre

Fees

  1. Basic Membership:

    $34.50 ($30 plus HST)

    • Preferential rates for classes and workshops
    • Advance registration for classes and workshops
    • Receipt of CBCCD publications
    • Access to lending library
    • Invitation to Special Events and Exhibition Openings (via email)
    • Discounts on purchases at designated retail outlets
    • Voting rights at CBCCD Annual Meeting (Members must be legal voting age)

     

  2. Professional Craft Producer Membership:

    $57.50 ($50 plus HST)

    • As Basic Member above plus
    • Access to professional development support programs **
    • Opportunity to be a featured artist on website **
    • Participate in Marketing and Promotional Initiatives **
    • Discounted Professional Development Workshop and Seminar fees
    • Opportunity to connect with fine craft professionals

    ** Specific criteria apply

  3. Youth Membership:

    18 and under: $17.50 ($15 plus HST)
    18 and up (Full Time Student*): $23.00 ($20 plus HST)
    (* Identification required)

    • Receipt of CBCCD publications
    • Advance registration for classes and workshops at the Centre
    • Access to lending library
    • Discounts on purchases at designated retail outlets (see discount on reverse)
    • Voting rights at CBCCD Annual Meeting *
    • Invitation to Special Events and Exhibition Openings (via email)

    * Members must be of legal voting age, 18 years or older

  4. Family Membership:

    $46.00 ($40 plus HST)

    • As Basic Member as above (Adult plus all children under 18yrs in same residence)

     

  5. Friends of CBCCD:

    Friends of the CBCCD are individuals or businesses who make acknowledged or anonymous donations of any denomination to support the Centre's ongoing development of cultural and educational programming and services.
