Product Assessment
The Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is an organisation whose mandate is to assist in the development and promotion of fine craft in Cape Breton. To achieve these goals, the Centre helps craftspeople attain success in their craft through education, information and assistance. We also exist to help create and maintain standards for craft on Cape Breton Island.
One of the ways the Centre can assist in the development and promotion of fine craft is through offering ‟product assessment” process to craftspeople. This process is designed to help craftspeople improve the quality of their craft and marketability should they wish to sell their work in different settings. The assessment is performed by a carefully selected committee of qualified craft makers and craft sector professionals.
Once an artisans work is accepted by the committee, his/her name is entered in a registry of successfully assessed craftspeople. Inclusion in this registry indicates that your work has been recognized for its level of skill and craftsmanship and can give you access to certain specific craft marketing programmes and opportunities available only to assessed members.
Individuals are welcome and encouraged to have their work assessed and take advantage of the opportunities afforded to assessed artisans.
During 2012, the product assessment committee will meet on the following dates:
- March 5th
- April 2nd
- June 4th
- September 10th
