Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design has been a key player in providing leadership, instruction, and support to the Island`s craft community for more than 30 years.
Hundreds of classes and workshops have ensured the preservation of the traditional and heritage crafts of Cape Breton while nurturing the work of those artists who push the envelope of conventional craftsmanship.
The provision of enriched training for established and emerging craft producers is cultivating a standard of excellence and professionalism that is attracting international recognition.
And under the Centre`s stewardship, the craft sector in Cape Breton has blossomed, contributing significantly to the Island`s economy and quality of life.
Through the years, the Centre has been a strong proponent of Cape Breton craft, celebrating within its own borders and beyond, the remarkable achievements of the many gifted artists and artisans working in various media throughout the Island.
