William Roach

French Acadian born and raised in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. William is completely self-taught and has been very interested and involved in art since early childhood. William was employed in a wide variety of occupations before becoming a full lime wood carver including carpentry, truck driver, press operator, forklift operator and many more. For many years William did his artwork and gave it away. He began making his living carving full time in 1990. So for the last 20 years he has been making his living from carving, painting and painted furniture.

Many pieces of his work are very colorful and whimsical; all of his carvings are made of pine and painted. A number of pieces are commissioned and the rest is left up to his creative imagination. He has work worldwide, some has gone as far as Switzerland.

Sunset Art Gallery is open May 15 to October 15, 9:00 am to 6:00m seven days a week; off season, by appointment or by chance. 

Sunset Art Gallery is located at 15856 Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia.  It is at the edge of the village one mile north of Cheticamp heading toward the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
